Workshops and Trainings
(2 days prior to ISTS)
For ISTS 45, we encourage activities that provide clear added value to participants through practical learning, active participation, collaboration, capacity building, and the development of useful skills or tangible outputs.
For the purposes of the programme:
A Workshop is an interactive and participatory session designed to produce a tangible outcome for participants, such as a practiced skill, a
tool used or developed, or a collaboratively produced output. A Training is a structured technical capacity-building session with clearly defined learning objectives and, where appropriate, competency assessment or certification.
Sessions consisting primarily of passive, lecture-style presentations will not be considered Workshops.
A limited opportunity may be available for a very small number of Workshops or Trainings to include supervised practical activities with live resident sea turtles and/or necropsy material. Such activities will be subject to facility availability, animal welfare considerations, logistical feasibility, and approval by the ISTS 45 organising team. Proposers wishing to include this type of practical component should clearly indicate it in their concept proposal. Proposals will be evaluated based on their relevance to the sea turtle community, overall merit, expected value to participants, and the strength of their practical and participatory components.
